Finding Suppliers

So sometimes finding suppliers can be an adventure. Especailly with responses like this:

I asked him about publishing cards (NOTE the title of his company is "Seven Thunders Publishing"

I am not sure why you asked me these questions. I do not publish cards.

Sincerely,

Robert

However, I'm sure good responses are on the way.

The Fabric and Publisher Search

Well I have some ideas. I just need to find a good clothing manufacturer that supplies long sleeve button up shirts, t-shirts, polo shirts and standard long sleeve shirts in a variety of colors. I am also working on finishing a place that would print 10 decks of some custom cards I'm planning on making. So far, I've gotten 3 replies, all useless, but hey it's a start. Meanwhile I get to work my day job.

Inspirational message to all of those reading this:

Your are a wonderful amazing person and you alone have the ability to change your life.

“A thing is only impossible until someone does it.” -Nathan Paul

Lessons Learned:
- The hardest part is figuring out exactly what to ask for when you trying to start a business in an industry you've never been in.

- Tomato plants do not like straight vinegar put on their roots- it makes them turn brown and crunchy :(

- Tigger melons taste like honey dew

- Russian Salad dressing and apricot preserves slow cooked makes a good meat sauce

- Lastly - floppy things are almost as enticing as shiny things :)

Tasks:

- Find a company that manufacturers the right clothes
- Find a printing house
- Figure out how to make a webpage that has the ability to select cards (like the tarot sites :S
- Sleep - sleep is definitely a must

What is the Search for Shiny Objects?

If you’re like me shiny objects are pretty enticing, all of that glittery awesomeness. But I’m talking about more than just sparkly things here. I’m talking about dreams, goals and desires. Everyone has something they want. Those are his or her “Shiny Objects”.

I watched the video the Secret and I have decided to put it to the test. I have set my goals (see below) and I am focusing on my Shiny Objects. The question is: will I get them? Will they come true for me? Can they come true for you, just as the Secret says? I have embarked on an adventure to see if the Secret will work to acquire my Shiny Objects. Lofty goals you say – yes but I am inspired by Julie and Julia 

Shiny Object Due Date
Own a brand new 2010 Camaro 12/2009
Own my business that makes people feel good about who they are 1/2010
Launch 1st new product (in addition to the business) 12/2009
First $100,000 6/2010
Buy land for future house by 6/2010
Launch 2nd new product (in addition to the business) 12/2010
First million dollars 1/2011
Start off the grid house build (architect already found location TBD) 1/2011
Business I started will either be bought out or franchised 6/2011
Off the grid house, guest homes, garage and year-round greenhouse done 8/2012

What I am starting with:

$7,000 in student loans
A blue collar job working 40 hours a week making $38K after taxes a year
A truck that I owe $14,000 that is only worth $11,000 on the market now
A wonderful boyfriend
A belief that anything is possible and that the Secret really works

I know this sounds impossible, and it might be. I have heard “Impossible” many times before. I heard that when I went to college with an 8th grade education – not knowing what an essay was or anything more than multiplication. I graduated last year with high honors and a Masters degree – not bad for being told I was starting out as white trash.

However, I have never taken on a feat like this. I have business ideas, but I have never started a business or written like this, or even launched a product. I hope to keep you interested in reading my day to day adventures.
